Who is the Richest Football Club in the World?
Real Madrid knock Manchester United off the top spot this year. United have been the leading earners for the last 8 years. But now Real top the list with an income up to June this year of $334 Million (US Dollars).
Or in other terms :
- $6,423,076 (USD) per week.
- nearly $1 Million Dollars a day in income.
Manchester United are not far behind with an income of $296 Million (US Dollars).
Real make an incredible 42% of its income from Commercial activities, with Manchester United gaining 27% of their income from Commercial sources. Manchester United also get over 1/3rd of their income from TV.
To play in the big league you really need a global presence.
Latest from Iraq - Soldiers viewpoint
Hey all,
It has been a tough few weeks in the whole country, with attacks against a lot of civilian targets around Baghdad. Here, insurgent attacks on Iraqi Army units, who can't defend themselves so we run in to try to cover for them. The Iraqi Army is in no condition to take over operations from the US Army.
In the news, Iraq seems to have snuck back to the forefront again as Generals discuss timetables and such with Congress. My cynical political mind thinks that talk about troop withdrawal distracts people from the issues brought to the front at home, and talking about bringing troops home is good, just don't mention it will not be for 5 years or so. Then after the Iraqi election the news can forget Iraq until we hit that magic 2000 number. The way things are going right now 2000 could be reached before Thanksgiving.
As I have said before, one of the greatest hurdles here is, it is not us against them. It is us against them and them and them and them. Well, hopefully everyone is enjoying the Fall. It has not gone above 100 (degrees) yet this week. It is only Sunday though.

Liverpool 1 - Chelsea 4
Mourinho seems to feel agrieved for certain criticism aimed at his team, reading his press comments after todays inspirational victory at Ainfield. Although people will always find faults in what he has done at Chelsea, it is a tremendous achievement for him to be creating so much success for the West London club.He is managing a great squad of players and has blended them into a fine winning machine. Chelsea have a fantastic future ahead of them as a club and will be part of a dominant 3 clubs for several years. And it looks like they may even be the leading light with the resources at their disposal. Arsenal and Manchester United face more turbulent futures with the respective location and ownership problems. And this could be unsettling for the clubs, leading a to a calm, composed Chelsea to reap the rewards of a settled Football Club.
Live from the Jungle - Catching Snakes - My new hobby
There i was enjoying an afternoon siesta, when Karen starts screaming from the bar. SNAKE, SNAKE!!! So i jumped up and ran to the bar to see a small Green Headed Tree Snake trapped in the window. We get alot of rodents and frogs where we are and this is a very tasty morsel for a ravenous tree snake. You can see me trying to catch the snake with a slipper which is not my first choice of implement to catch them with. In the end Karen passed me a Broom so i could trap its head and then pick it up. I'm sure i could fill in for Steve Irwin if ever he needs a day off.
This was a harmless snake (unless your a frog)and after taking its picture i threw it into the bush at the end of the swimming pool. All credit to Karen as she held her nerve and took a few pictures of me apprehending the Tree Snake. If you look closely at the second picture you can see the snake had already captured something. Thats probably a small frog inside its belly.
It looks like our lives are about to change again as we make our preparations for the upcoming high season at the Belize Jungle Dome. With our new investors hopefully moving down early next year, we have decided to move out from the Jungle into the relatively civilized community of Belmopan, the world’s smallest capital city
Simone has been checking out the properties for rent in the neighborhood and we will probably have a glut of rentals to choose from. The US Embassy is under construction and the anticipated influx of foreigners into the area to fill the embassy jobs means that there are some quality new houses being built for rental.
Speaking of new houses, yesterday I went to Spanish Lookout, home of the Mennonites to make the final payment on our new kitchen and by kitchen I mean the building. Total cost including delivery of a 16’ x 14’ wooden building built and delivered to the Belize Jungle Dome will be just over $5,000 USD. It will arrive on Tuesday by truck which is quite a sight. The kitchen will then be placed on 6’ posts and bolted down to secure it. This will almost complete our renovations for the upcoming season.
Tomorrow we have the second round of the football tournament. There will be 4 games at “Black Man Eddy” a small village half way between us and San Ignacio. Simone and Lucas will be coming with me and I hope to get some pictures of the days events to post on the blog. My big toe has not totally healed but I am excited about a game of football after nearly a months break. So I will risk it and try to avoid any crunching tackles during the game.
Checking the premier league results today and it has been a poor day for my old teams. Charlton looked to be sitting pretty with a 2-0 lead but I’m sure the valley faithful will have been very disappointed to see that lead squandered to a rejuvenated Tottenham team. And West Brom just can’t get there season going going down 2-0 at Blackburn. Lets hope that tomorrow Liverpool can do the premier league a favour and take some points of Chelsea to stop the blues runaway train.
